FILMING CRITICAL REFLECTION

Analysis of Each Scene / Reflection

Credits/Production Logo (Before Scene Starts)
  • In the credits at the end we had the idea of a Ten Pin bowling shot, where all the the pins in the shot with a smaller version of a bowling ally and the bowling pins. Tom and I both there the ball towards the pins (whilst filming at an angle) to have the pins fall down and then out production logo will be on screen (TenPin Productions).
Successes/Problems
  • At first we used a black back drop to roll the ball along the table/black back drop. However the challenge was that it caught the background of the overall frame. There were other objects etc.. that were interfering with the frame of the shot. So, we decided to use the green screen and my IPad Pro to film the clip. We set up the skittles agains the screen screen on the floor, and propped up the IPad in the position we wanted. This helped us complete the scene in the way we wanted to successfully.
Scene 1 - Establishing Shot

In this scene had all the extras against the wall with their backs facing the camera in the shot.

Scene 2 - Locker Scene, Tracking Shot (Part 1)
Successes/Problems
  • Due to the weather being dull and not sunny, the lighting was not the most bright. However, to solve this problem in post production we will increase the brightness and heighten the colours.
  • Another problem we had was the close up at the end of the scene. It was difficult to get only the main character in the shot and not have anyone one else in the frame. To solve this problem we directed the extras in this scene to move further away from the main character so Kevin (main character) is the only character in shot.
Successes/Problems
  • Tracking shot through the doors. We had some issues with lighting come in and out of the shot when walking through the scene. For example, when actors Holly and Arron walked underneath the windows the lighting became lighter than usual. However, like in the establishing shot we decided to decrease the brightness (a little) in this section.
  • The success of this scene was that in rehearsals the actors made it easy for as we casted two actors/people who are already comfortable with each other and working together.
Scene 3 - Locker Scene, Three Point Shot (Part 2)

Successes/Problems
  • Three shot scene. In this three shot scene we had difficulties with the directors being in the shot. We both tried to film in at different locations on set to try not be in the frame. In the end I ended up in the corner of the room shooting the three shot, and everyone was in frame.
  • We had script (and timing) issues with this shot. We ended changing the line with Kevin’s friend. We also let the actors improvise with their lines as well in this scene.

Scene 4 - Ending Robbery Scene (running out of the house) / Tracking Shot and Over the shoulder shot

Successes/Problems
Successes:
